At the NDTV World Summit 2025, actor and entrepreneur Samantha Ruth Prabhu took centre stage to emphasize that authenticity is increasingly the new benchmark of fame. The summit, which brings together political leaders, cultural icons, business minds and global thinkers, featured Samantha in a session titled ‘Authenticity: The New Fame’.

Samantha addressed the pressures of maintaining a public persona in today’s world. She said, “Authenticity is the need of the hour… We tried the route of perfection… But it distances people… Everyone wears the same clothes, says the same things… I’m not perfect, I might make mistakes, I’m trying to do better.” She also acknowledged her own trials, stating, “Anyone who has followed my journey is aware of the personal struggles… My separation, illness, everything has been very, very public. You are constantly judged for being vulnerable.”
On ambition, Samantha remarked, “I’m very ambitious. Ambition should not just run wild; it should come with some purpose. It is important for youth today to select their mentors very carefully… I selected my mentors very carefully who changed the trajectory of my life. That is the reason more people in higher positions must also be very responsible.” Her words underscored a call for responsible role-modelling, especially for emerging generations.
The Summit, now in its 2025 edition, aims to be a platform where inherited realities confront unwritten futures a space to challenge the status quo and imagine new paradigms. Other distinguished figures at the event include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UK’s former PM Rishi Sunak, Sri Lankan PM Harini Amarasuriya, former Australian PM Tony Abbott, and civil society leaders.
As Samantha’s address demonstrated, the summit is evolving to include not only traditional power players but voices from the creative and cultural sectors who reshape public discourse.
