Tamil actor Suriya’s upcoming film, tentatively titled ‘Suriya 46’, was officially launched on May 19 in the presence of director Venky Atluri, producer Naga Vamsi, co-star Mamitha Baiju and music composer GV Prakash. Director Trivikram of ‘Guntur Kaaram’ fame was also present at the launch and marked the beginning of the journey with the first clap.

The official X handle of Sithara Entertainments, the banner under which the film is being produced, shared pictures from the ceremony. “The most anticipated ‘Suriya 46’ has been officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony! Suriya x Venky Atluri unite to create magic on screen! Thank you Trivikram garu for gracing and marking the beginning of this journey with the first clap,” read the caption.

They also announced that the film would go on floors by the end of May and will be released in theatres in summer 2026.

Music composer GV Prakash, who has been receiving a lot of love for his recent success with the music of the Ajith Kumar-starrer Tamil film ‘Good Bad Ugly’, posted a picture on X with Venky Atluri, with the caption, “After ‘Lucky Baskhar’, ‘Vaathi’ my third combo with my most successful combination director. Let’s rock this Venky Atluri here is ‘Suriya 46’.”

He also shared another picture, this time with Suriya and Venky Atluri, with the caption, “After ‘Soorarai Pottru’ joining hands with Suriya sir. This album will be as special as SP. This one is for u Suriya sir.we have got a fantastic film and album on hands. The songs have come out superb (sic).”

GV Prakash’s upcoming projects, apart from ‘Suriya 46’, include Dhanush directorial ‘Idly Kadai’ and Sivakarthikeyan starrer ‘Parasakthi’, among others.

Venky Atluri’s ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ was a superhit at the box office upon its release in October 2024, grossing over Rs 110 crore at the worldwide box office. The film featured Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead roles. The film was also well appreciated by critics, who called it a neatly written and exceptionally enacted drama about financial frauds.

‘Retro’ actor Suriya recently announced his collaboration with Venky Atluri at the pre-release event of his last film. He said, “This will be my next film. As you’ve all been asking for a long time, my next Tamil film is with Venky, and I will be spending a lot of time in beautiful Hyderabad. We will start the shoot from May onwards.”
