Elli Avrram has publicly responded to a wave of trolling after a widely circulated picture of her with YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani sparked remarks about her “body count.” The post, which initially fuelled dating rumours, led to a barrage of misogynistic commentary targeting her personal life.
Elli Avrram hits back at trolls over ‘body count’ remarks; says, “It’s just society, life and frustrated men”
In interviews with Times Now, Elli said she was unfamiliar with the term “body count” until her Gen Z friends explained it and called it “nasty.” She criticized the double standard in how men and women are judged, stating, “I feel it always happens with women. It never happens with men. It’s always us; we are the demons. And it’s just society, life and frustrated men, probably very hurt also we can just pray for them and bless them with more light and that they become more mature, heal and understand how to respect women and human be human beings.”
Elli further stated, “Body count stands for something else, which, honestly, even I didn’t know what it meant until my Gen-Z people explained to me what body count means. The number of people that you have been physically with, that’s what it means. That’s why it was very nasty,” said Elli. She further reacted to Uorfi Javed taking a stand for her on social media and said, “Of course, Uorfi gave that statement, and it was really sweet of her. She’s that one person who really speaks up.”
Earlier in the saga, Ashish Chanchlani also addressed the vitriol directed at Elli. In a response to a critical user, he clarified, “I wanna clear something before you all. Make no mistake. Those ‘people’ in my comments are not my audience/fans or followers. Half of them don’t even follow me. It’s a free platform and an open tweet, and all the disgusting things they said will never be supported or encouraged by me or my fans.”
The controversy follows the release of their joint promotional music video Chandaniya, and the romantic undertones of their social media collaboration. Though their coordinated posts led to speculation of a real-life romance, both have repeatedly downplayed those rumours in public forums.
This episode has reignited conversations about online harassment, gender bias, and the responsibility of public figures to counter abusive narratives.
