Actor Vin Diesel is also set to return as Richard B Riddick in his upcoming action-science-fiction sequel, ‘Riddick: Furya’. He had shared his new look from the highly anticipated comeback. Work on the franchise’s fourth film began in 2014; it will now deeply explore the title characters’ mysterious origins.

Diesel shared an image looking sharp in his slick Furyan armor. Captioning the image simply with the word ‘Furyan’, the post reveals him in a pair of bladed gauntlets he will no doubt use to take down whoever makes the mistake of getting in his way.

The sci-fi action sequel will again be written and directed by David Twohy, who rejoins creators Jim and Ken Wheat. Diesel is also one of the co-producers in the film.

The official synopsis of the film reads, “Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins by the Necromongers. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new enemy. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”

Riddick was first introduced more than two decades ago in the acclaimed sci-fi horror outing ‘Pitch Black’ (2000). While the first film focused on a crew stranded on a planet with nocturnal monsters, the 2004 sequel, ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’, greatly broadened the universe. This second film finds the main character battling the Necromongers, an empire hell bent on obliterating humanity.

Diesel has been teasing a fourth outing ever since, with returning director David Twohy having previously teased how the sequel will explore Riddick’s mysterious past. With the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise now set to come to an end with an eleventh instalment (though, as recent reports reveal, it may have surprisingly already ended with 2023’s Fast X), the actor is looking to launch several new action franchises in its wake.

Diesel is now set to return for ‘The Last Witch Hunter 2’, with ‘xXx 4’ also on his mind.
