A dramatic scene unfolded at a jewellery shop in Indore on Monday when a dispute between a female customer and a jeweller spiralled out of control, resulting in damage to property and an assault on a police officer.

The incident occurred at the jewellery shop of Sumit Jain, a businessman in the Sarafa market, when a longtime customer, Kirti, arrived and began arguing over a financial dispute amounting to Rs 5,000.

People present at the scene said that the verbal argument quickly turned physical when Kirti, in a fit of anger, shattered the shop’s glass display, startling other customers and causing panic.

A video shows the woman shouting at others, possibly store staff.

As onlookers attempted to defuse the situation, Kirti reportedly continued her outburst, shouting at staff and disrupting business.

A team from Sarafa police station soon arrived at the scene and a female constable tried to intervene to control the situation. However, Kirti allegedly bit the constable in her hand.

Somehow, police eventually managed to bring the situation under control and restrain Kirti. She was then transported to the police station.

A case has been registered against Kirti under charges including obstruction of government work, assault, and vandalism.
