Drake and Sophie Brussaux are proving that co-parenting can look effortlessly cool, as long as there’s a mutual understanding and the best intentions for your child in mind. The rapper recently reunited with his ex to jointly celebrate their 8-year-old son Adonis’s birthday with a grand western-themed bash. Their rare appearance together has since sparked quite a buzz across social media.
Photos and videos shared on October 12, 2025, showed Drake and Sophie posing together in coordinated denim outfits, alongside their son, who donned a white tee and an open-collared shirt. The family posed by a huge three-tier cowboy-themed birthday cake, decorated all the way with fondant boots, lassos, and even a longhorn belt buckle.
This rare family moment has once again sparked curiosity about the 38-year-old rapper’s personal life, especially his relationship with the 36-year-old former model. Here’s everything you need to know about Brussaux.
How Drake and Sophie’s relationship developed over the years
Drake and Sophie were first linked back in January 2017, shortly after the rapper’s highly publicised split from Jennifer Lopez. However, it wasn’t until later that year that their brief romance came to light, when Brussaux claimed she was pregnant with his child and hired lawyers for paternity-related proceedings.

Drake and Sophie’s son, Adonis, was born in October 2018. By March 2018, a DNA test confirmed that Drake was indeed the father. The proceedings were mostly kept under wraps, but the world learnt about the rapper’s son in May 2018 when rapper Pusha T released his diss track, The Story of Adidon, accusing Drake of hiding his son. Shortly after this, Drake also confirmed the same in his album, Scorpion, saying through his lyrics:
“I wasn’t hiding my son from the world, but I was hiding the world from my child.”
Despite initial struggles with fatherhood and co-parenting, Drake has learnt to embrace his role as a father with pride. His rocky relationship with Sophie also cooled off with time, and the two have developed mutual respect. Speaking to LeBron James on his unscripted HBO series in 2018, the rapper said:
“I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, we’ve had our moments. I don’t ever want the world to be angry at his mother. We have found ourselves in a situation, and we are both equally responsible. Now, I’m just really excited to be a great father. No matter what happens, I have unconditional love for the mother of my child because I want him to love his mother, and I have to project that energy.”
Their relationship continued to improve over the years, and Drake even left subtle hints about Brussaux in his 2021 track, Champagne Poetry. The rapper celebrated their co-parenting dynamic and rapped:
“Co-parent of the year, we figured out a rapport.”
In June 2022, Sophie also made a rare post on Drake, wishing him a happy Father’s Day and expressing her gratefulness for having him as her son’s father.
Who is Sophie Brussaux?
Sophie Brussaux was born on August 1, 1989, in Bordeaux, France. While the world knows her today as Drake’s son’s mother, she is a celebrated artist and philanthropist who actively advocates for social change.
Before transitioning to her passion for visual arts, Sophie was known in entertainment circles as a model and music video performer under the name ‘Rosee Divine’. Now, she has stepped away from the limelight as a celebrated painter. Her art is known to be a blend of surrealism and pop culture and has been exhibited globally in cities like Paris, Milan, Dubai, and New York.
In November 2019, Sophie’s career hit a milestone when she personally met Pope Francis and presented him with a self-painted portrait. Sharing the memorable moment on Instagram, Brussaux wrote:
“Such an honour to meet Pope Francis and gift him the portrait I painted for him in honour of his concert with and for the poor on Nov 9 2019. I used green, the colour of hope, with red, the colour designated by @undp [United Nations Development Programme] to fight poverty.”
She is a philanthropist, activist, and non-profit founder
Beyond art, Sophie has been an active advocate for social change. She is the founder and director of the world’s largest art publisher, Arts Help, which has over 2.5 million members. It’s a nonprofit organisation that provides free masterclasses and partners with global institutions for various social initiatives. Sophie’s humanitarian work has earned her global recognition, including a 2019 honour from UN-Habitat Global Advocate for her team’s exhibition ‘Icons With a Purpose’, which used art to spotlight pressing global issues.
Today, Drake and Sophie have mastered the art of peaceful co-parenting. While she primarily resides in France, where Adonis is being raised bilingual, the little boy splits time between Paris, Toronto, and Los Angeles.
