In a historic moment for school education in India, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon (VBB) 2025, the country’s largest synchronised innovation challenge for students.

Over 3 lakh schools from every corner of India participated, making it the biggest live school innovation movement ever. Dharmendra Pradhan personally interacted with students at PM SHRI Government High School, Khorda, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, inspiring them to dream big.

Congratulating the students, Pradhan said their ideas could pave the way for global solutions to real-world problems. “A developed, and prosperous India will be built on the creativity and talent of our school students,” he said, urging young innovators to play an active role in shaping the nation’s future.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, praised the students for their enthusiasm and innovative thinking, calling VBB a platform that strengthens learning and problem-solving skills. Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission, highlighted that the Buildathon is connecting schools from remote villages to bustling cities, making innovation a truly national movement.

The event also included visits by Education minister to Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Delhi Cantt., where he explored student projects, praised their creativity, and encouraged them to keep asking questions and experimenting.

Over 1 crore students participated in the two-hour live innovation challenge, forming teams of 3–5 to build prototypes around themes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi. A highlight of the event was School Spotlights, which showcased the work of 150 schools from remote, hilly, and aspirational districts, giving them a platform to share their stories with the nation.

    Participation across states and UTs:

    • Uttar Pradesh: 78,206 schools

    • Maharashtra: 41,198 schools

    • Gujarat: 20,017 schools

    • Madhya Pradesh: 18,129 schools

    • Tamil Nadu: 16,370 schools

    • Odisha: 12,344 schools

    • Karnataka: 10,248 schools

From the smallest towns to the largest cities, students across India came together to innovate, experiment, and imagine solutions that could shape a self-reliant and prosperous future.
