HBO’s crime drama, Task, has been grabbing the attention lately with its emotional layers, depth and gritty realism. The American crime drama series consists of several episodes, and each of them peels the layers, keeping the audience hooked to the screens. It premiered on September 7, 2025, and revolves around Philadelphia-based FBI agent, ‘Tom Brandis’, investigating a string of violent robberies that happen in the stash houses, run by outlaw motorcycle gangs.
The series stars Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Raul Castillo, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Silvia Dionicio, and Martha Plimpton, among others. With 6 episodes already streaming, people couldn’t help but be glued to the screens. Spoiler alert ahead, as we’ll also explore what exactly happened in episode 6.
How many episodes are there in Task?
A total of six episodes are in the crime drama, Task, and each delves into the layers, thereby strengthening the plotline and supporting the storytelling. This kept the audience hooked and even excited for the final showdown in the upcoming episode. To mention, there will be another episode of season one, thereby making Task a 7-episode show. The six episodes of the drama were Crossings, Family Statements, Nobody’s Stronger Than Forgiveness, All Roads, Vagrants, Out Beyond Ideas of Wrongdoing and Rightdoing, There Is a River, and the last episode, for which people have been eagrly waiting, given to the fact that one of the lead died, but the gang’s threat remained steady, promising a final and intense showdown.
What happened in episode 6 of the Task, and what to expect from episode 7?
Episode 6 of Task is a major turning point with two central characters dying within the first 20 minutes. With Robbie’s and Lizzie’s deaths, the plot even intensified, and the FBI launched another investigation, suspecting someone from the team had been leaking the information. The mole of the team, ‘Anthony Grasso’, fell into regret after the death of ‘Lizzie’, but was ordered to stay composed throughout. On the other hand, ‘Sam’, the kidnapped child by ‘Robbie’ and ‘Cliff’, was taken to the police by ‘Maeve’.
While ‘Tom Brandis’, the lead of the investigation, and a former priest, took home ‘Sam’ as a foster child, causing issues within his own family, ‘Maeve’ was released. Eventually, ‘Tom’ found out the link between ‘Grasso’ and the gang, Dark Hearts, thereby keeping a space open for another fiery confrontation in the season finale. Another point may turn fiery as the gang might again turn back to ‘Meave’, who lives with two children. The same might happen as towards the end, ‘Robbie’s redemption got revealed, as he entrusted a whole lot of money to ‘Shally’ by hoping it might reach his family, and he did the same by misleading ‘Jayson’ and ‘Perry’ of Dark Hearts. So, with several open spaces there, the Task may turn even more interesting in the season finale.
Each of the cast members did an amazing job in their roles, and Tom Pelphrey played ‘Robbie’. In a word, he was the central figure around whom the entire plot revolved, and he held it together quite strongly. This showcases how a flawed man is caught between survival and redemption, on a journey filled with guilt, desperation, love for his family, and ultimately sacrifice.
