ZF India Pvt Ltd has bagged a significant order from one of India’s top commercial vehicle manufacturers for the supply of its 430mm heavy-duty clutch systems, custom-engineered to meet the rigorous demands of Indian road and load conditions.

The new clutch systems will cater to the OEM’s high-horsepower engine platforms and will be manufactured at ZF’s Chakan plant in Pune. The agreement, finalized in May 2025, covers the supply of several thousand units, with production set to commence in mid-2026.

Akash Passey, President – Region India, ZF Group, said, “ZF’s strategic focus on localization and innovation for the Indian market is reconfirmed with this business win. With our global technological expertise and strong local manufacturing footprint, we are enabling customers to access world-class technologies that are tailored for their specific market needs. This win highlights India’s growing importance as a hub in ZF’s commercial vehicles business.”

Paramjit Singh Chadha, Sr. Vice President – CVS Division (India), ZF Group, added, “This business win validates our advanced heavy-duty clutch technology, designed to withstand India’s demanding operating conditions. The 430mm clutch system delivers superior durability and is compatible with both manual and automated manual transmissions. Localized production at our Chakan facility supports the ‘Make in India’ vision and our customers’ growth plans for domestic and export markets.”

The new clutch system offers up to 20% longer service life, improved driver comfort through optimized clutch load, and reduced total cost of ownership for fleet operators. It represents ZF’s continued push to bring globally proven driveline technology adapted for Indian conditions.

With this development, ZF continues to expand its presence in India’s commercial vehicle sector, driving innovation and strengthening its role as a key mobility solutions provider in the region.

    Key highlights:

    • Advanced Performance: New lining materials deliver up to 20% longer clutch life.
    • Driver Comfort: Optimized clutch load reduces fatigue and enhances performance.
    • Future-Ready: Compatible with both MT and AMT driveline systems.

ZF is a global technology leader in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety systems. With 161,600 employees and operations across 30 countries, ZF recorded sales of €41.4 billion in fiscal 2024. The company continues to drive advancements in mobility, electrification, and sustainability across passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial applications.
