The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Fashionphile, the largest resale platform for buying and selling ultra-luxury pre-owned accessories, have teamed up on a digital series on “Responsible Fashion: Designing for Resale.”

The luxury resale market is becoming a bigger part of the fashion business and offers a solution to overproduction, waste and the demand for sustainable consumption. For fashion designers, this shift brings both challenges and opportunities.

The CFDA X Fashionphile Digital Series will address a range of concerns facing designers today.

CFDA’s continued partnership with Fashionphile shines a spotlight on the power of resale. Beyond advancing circular fashion and its positive environmental impact, resale represents a smart business decision for brands, extending product life cycles, reaching new consumers, and strengthening long-term brand value. Together, we’re helping build a more responsible and Earth-conscious industry,” said Steven Kolb, chief executive officer and president of the CFDA.

“We’re proud to be partnering with the CFDA to celebrate the designers and creativity shaping today’s fashion landscape. This series shines a light on the thoughtful approach and stories that inspire the industry designers who are creating with sustainability, longevity, and artistry in mind. We hope it connects fashion enthusiasts to support the vision driving these incredible designers,” said Sarah Davis, founder and president of Fashionphile.

Hosted by journalist Sophia Li, program sessions will cover topics including luxury resale, brand value, sustainability, market positioning and the evolving consumer landscape. The series begins Thursday on both the CFDA and Fashionphile’s YouTube channels.

Among the sessions are “How resale complements, rather than competes with new collections,” “Positioning your brand as a luxury label in both primary and secondary markets,” “Resale and tech: How tech and innovation is reshaping the circular economy,” “Brand value and integrity, how resale can enhance your image,” and “From past to present: The power of vintage and resale.”

Speakers include Nicole Richie, creative director of House of Harlow; Olivia Cheng, founder and creative director of Dauphinette; Julie Gilhart, founder and president of Gilhart & Co.; Rachel Molina, head of sustainability of Another Tomorrow; Ben Hemminger, cofounder and chief executive officer of Fashionphile, and Fashionphile’s Davis.
