Cats: The Jellicle Ball is coming to Broadway.
The musical, which reimagines Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats as a drag ballroom competition, will play Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre with previews starting March 18, 2026, ahead of an April 7 opening night. The musical moves to Broadway after an acclaimed run at New York’s Perelman Performing Arts Center last season.
Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch direct, with choreography by Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons. This is the latest reimagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work, following the immersive Phantom of the Opera in New York City, Jamie Lloyd’s stripped-down revival of Sunset Blvd., starring Nicole Scherzinger, and Lloyd’s concert-like take on Evita, on the West End starring Rachel Zegler.
The original production of Cats ran on Broadway from 1982 to 2000, and was revived in 2016. The musical was also adapted into a much-maligned 2019 film.
The cast of Cats including Tony Award winner André De Shields as Old Deuteronomy, Sydney James Harcourt as Rum Tum Tugger, “Tempress” Chasity Moore as ‘Grizabella, and Junior LaBeija as ‘Gus,’ will reprise their roles from the Off-Broadway production.
The cast also includes Jonathan Burke as ‘Mungojerrie,’ Baby Byrne as ‘Victoria,’ Tara Lashan Clinkscales, as ‘Rum Tum Tugger,’ Dava Huesca as ‘Rumpleteazer,’ Dudney Joseph Jr. as ‘Munkustrap,’ Junior LaBeija as ‘Gus,’ Robert “Silk” Mason as ‘Magical Mister Mistoffelees,’ Primo Thee Ballerino as ‘Tumblebrutus,’ Xavier Reyes as ‘Jennyanydots,’ Nora Schell as ‘Bustopher Jones,’ Bebe Nicole Simpson as ‘Demeter,’ Emma Sofia as ‘Cassandra’/’Skimbleshanks,’ Garnet Williams as ‘Bombalurina,’ and Teddy Wilson, Jr. as ‘Sillabub.’ Additional casting will be announced.
Michael Harrison and Mike Bosner will produce the musical.
