    Jammu and Kashmir: Sikh man held for ‘sacrilegious act’ in Samba; FIR registered | India News – The Times of India

    JAMMU: J&K Police have arrested a middle-aged Sikh man in Samba district for allegedly desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib.Police said the alleged “sacrilegious act” was carried out by Manjit Singh alias Billa of Koulpur village in Ramgarh at a local gurdwara. He allegedly used some inflammable oil to set ablaze the holy text late Tuesday night, sparking widespread protests by the Sikh community, a police officer said.An FIR had been registered under relevant legal provisions and further investigation was going on, cops said.Jammu IG Shiv Kumar Sharma appealed to the Sikh community to cooperate with police and not listen to rumours.
