In this Get Real India story, the focus is on an RTI filed by India Today that reveals alarming gaps in Delhi’s healthcare system. The data shows nearly one-third of ventilators in major Delhi government hospitals are non-functional. Out of 297 ventilators across facilities like Loknayak Hospital and Maulana Azad Medical College, 92 are out of order, which is 31% of the total. Loknayak Hospital faces the biggest shortfall with over 70 non-functional ventilators. The report also finds that at least 41 ventilators provided under PM Cares are not operational. While the Aam Aadmi Party has blamed the BJP government, the Delhi government has disputed the RTI response, with a government representative stating, “All ventilators are on active mode.”
