Kevin Spacey touched down in Cannes, France where he’s due to pick up an award this week amid an ongoing comeback bid.

The Better World Fund will present the Oscar winner with an award for excellence in film and television at the fund’s milestone 10th anniversary gala dinner on Tuesday at the Carlton Hotel. Per a release send out by the fund, Spacey, who is reportedly already in town, “will be recognized not only for his decades of artistic brilliance but also for his enduring impact on cinema and the arts.”

The trophy is just the latest in a series of awards the actor has picked up as he attempts to regain a foothold in his career, which took a blow — including his 2017 firing from Netflix’s House of Cards — due to sexual misconduct allegations and subsequent legal battles. Spacey always denied all criminal charges and was found not guilty in sexual assault trials in the U.S. and the U.K. Last year, he was honored with a trophy for a voice role in the 2023 U.K. action thriller Control by the Folkestone Independent Film Awards in addition to receiving Italy’s Nations Award for Lifetime Achievement at a special gala in the historic southern Sicilian town of Taormina.

“We are truly privileged to welcome Kevin Spacey as our guest of honor and honoree at the Better World Fund Gala,” said Better World Fund founder and president Manuel Collas De La Roche. “Kevin’s extraordinary contributions to the art of cinema have left a mark on audiences and filmmakers alike. His talent, depth and commitment to storytelling exemplify the transformative power of film. It is with great excitement that we celebrate his legacy and presence at this meaningful gathering.”

The gala will raise funds for humanitarian causes, including Amma’s charitable organizations and the Salaam Baalak Trust. Sponsors for the event include Salaam Baalak Trust, Amma’s Foundation, Camelot Films, Christian of Roma, Casino Partouche, L. Raphael, Closer Music Corp., Joanna Plafsky, Maison Noir, Clinique La Prairie, Maia Wine, Tick’It, Kinderlachen, Studio Mao, OCF, The Hope Giver Foundation, CCIFI, ENIF, Platinum CPO, Quinn Studios, Awakened Souls, Egypt Air, Luxury limited Edition, Herflix, Breaking News Arabia, Tessier Sarrou, Artlys Patrimoine & Cred.

Variety first reported the news, adding that the honor was organized by producers of a conspiracy thriller set to star Spacey titled The Awakening which is being sold at the festival.
