Asus has launched the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X in India kicking off pre-orders for the new handhelds from today itself. The ROG Xbox Ally series marks the first time when a Windows handheld device will get the brand-new Xbox experience. The first 100 pre-orders will also receive benefits worth upwards of Rs 16,000.

The ROG Xbox Ally series is based on Asus’ ROG Ally devices, with a few changes. On the design front, the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X come with new grips, similar to the Xbox controller, seemingly allowing for a better experience while gaming for longer durations.

Both devices also get a special Xbox button on the left side to use the Xbox menu. The Asus ROG Xbox Ally series comes with Xbox full-screen experience mode, allowing for seamless integration. Similar to the previous ROG Ally devices, both handsets run on Windows 11. However, Windows will not run in the background while booting up the device, allowing users to maximise performance.

The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X share a 7-inch IPS LCD touchscreen, with a full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The ROG Xbox Ally X packs AMD’s latest Ryzen Z2 Extreme chipset. Asus claims that the handset can provide next-gen level performance in a portable form. The more affordable Xbox Ally gets a Ryzen Z2 A processor, suitable for most gaming needs. The base Xbox Ally is marketed as a 720p device.

The Xbox Ally X gets an 80Wh battery with a dedicated neural engine for AI tasks. The base Xbox Ally gets a smaller 60Wh battery.

Asus is offering benefits on pre-orders. The first 100 customers will receive a free 1-year subscription to Xbox Gamepass Ultimate, the top-tier of Microsoft’s gaming subscription, along with a ROG Slash slingbag. Asus claims that these benefits are worth Rs 16,947.
