A verbal political war between the advocates and followers of the Democratic and Trump-led Republican parties is a common phenomenon in America. Prominent representatives of the parties often voice their opinions regarding the shortcomings of each other. Among the most vocal American politicians is the 35-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, popularly known as AOC. Recently, she made some comments about Stephen Miller’s height, in an attempt to call out the ‘insecure masculinity’ of some conservatives. The comment prompted the internet to ponder the actual height of the former Trump adviser.
Why did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mock Stephen Miller’s height?
American representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has taken several digs at Stephen Miller over the years, most recently in October 2025 by mocking his height and calling him an ‘insecure’, ‘short troll’. It follows a long history of criticism over his role in controversial immigration policies created by the US President, Donald Trump. On October 6, 2025, AOC drew significant media attention after calling the former Trump adviser, Stephen Miller, a ‘clown’ and speculating on his height during an Instagram live broadcast.
AOC claimed that Stephen and several other conservatives were attempting to torment the American netizens to take out their own frustration on them. According to her, such politicians knew no other way to deal with their ‘insecure masculinity’, and in the case of Stephen Miller, it stemmed from his short height. She asked her live audience to laugh at Stephen because he seemed like a ‘clown’ to her, particularly because of being 4’10” and taking out that frustration on the public. She said:
“Point is, is that they are scrapping and grasping at straws because they have nothing else. Laugh at them! Stephen Miller is a clown! I’ve never seen that guy in real life, but he looks like he’s, like, 4’10”. And he looks like he is angry about the fact that he’s 4’10”.”
AOC argued that the focus should be on ‘insecure masculinity’ rather than ‘toxic masculinity’ and suggested that mocking insecure men like Stephen Miller could be an effective way to undermine their movement. Her idea of secure men was that they would not be afraid to let others grow and have successful people around them. Citing an example of such men, she mentioned ‘good dads’ with ‘strong values’ and praised them. AOC’s exact words were:
“By having secure men who aren’t afraid of successful people around them, who are good dads, who have strong values, also participating in that as well. So, that’s what I have for that.”
Is Stephen Miller’s height actually 4’10”?
Despite AOC’s claim that Stephen Miller is as short as 4’10”, he is listed as being much taller. If official records are to be believed, Stephen’s height is 5’10”, which can be considered average, but not short. However, AOC’s comment on his height might be a sarcastic remark to highlight her point regarding his wrongful actions towards the public stemming from his personal issues. AOC and Stephen Miller’s political disputes date back to 2019, when she testified before a House committee and tore into him over the ‘zero tolerance’ family separation policy.
At that time, she accused him of implementing a policy of ‘dehumanisation’. Not only AOC, other political figures and satirists have also targeted Stephen for his choices. In 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom shared an AI-generated cartoon of Stephen Miller, sparking backlash. The public criticised him, alleging that his action potentially invoked prejudiced imagery.
