UAE empowers children with Nebras cybersecurity contest

On October 6, 2025, the UAE Cybersecurity Council officially launched the Nebras Contest, inviting children and youth up to 16 years old to actively promote digital safety through creative video clips. The Nebras Contest is designed to empower young minds, teaching them the value of digital safety while encouraging creativity and critical thinking. The UAE Cybersecurity Council emphasizes that nearly 98% of cyberattacks involve social engineering, highlighting the need for early education on safe online habits. By participating, children not only develop valuable digital skills but also contribute to a nationwide culture of cybersecurity awareness.

    Who can participate and how

Participation is open to children and youth across the UAE, divided into two categories:

    • Children’s Category: Up to 12 years old
    • Youth Category: 12 to 16 years old

Children can create videos up to 45 seconds long, in formats that allow them to express creativity freely. Videos may be silent or include music, narration, or AI-generated elements, provided they respect UAE values, traditions, and cultural norms. Participants can submit their videos online, making it easy for children to contribute from home, school, or youth clubs. The competition sets clear rules: the maximum video size is 30 MB, and entries must focus on cybersecurity themes from protecting personal information to understanding online scams.

How to Win and Claim Prizes

The contest awards cash prizes totaling Dh30,000 across both categories:

    • First Place: Dh7,000 (two winners)
    • Second Place: Dh5,000 (two winners)
    • Third Place: Dh3,000 (two winners)

Winners will need to present their Emirates ID to claim the prizes, ensuring transparency and proper recognition.

    Why children should take part

The Nebras Contest is more than a competition, it’s a learning opportunity. Children who participate:

    • Develop Digital Skills: Creating videos helps them learn about cybersecurity, video editing, and storytelling.
    • Boost Awareness: Kids explore real-world online risks and understand how to protect themselves and others.
    • Gain Recognition and Rewards: Winners receive cash prizes—Dh7,000 for first place, Dh5,000 for second, and Dh3,000 for third—and earn national recognition for contributing to cyber awareness.

By participating, children become digital ambassadors, spreading awareness about online safety to peers, families, and their communities.

    The bigger motive behind Nebras

The contest reflects the UAE’s commitment to a safe digital future. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and nearly 98% of attacks involve manipulation of human behavior. By engaging children early, the UAE Cybersecurity Council hopes to instill a culture of vigilance, responsibility, and awareness among the next generation. The contest aligns with the broader Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign, which emphasizes prompt reporting of cyber threats, avoiding financial fraud, and practicing safe online habits. Empowering children to understand and communicate these lessons ensures they grow into informed and responsible digital citizens.

    Building a safer digital future

The Nebras Contest empowers children to take charge of cybersecurity education while encouraging creativity and innovation. By participating, kids not only learn valuable digital skills but also contribute to a nationwide culture of online safety. This initiative makes cybersecurity accessible, interactive, and rewarding proving that learning can be fun, impactful, and financially rewarding. Children and parents can visit the official UAE Cybersecurity Council website for details, submission guidelines, and deadlines. This is a unique opportunity for young minds to shine, learn, and make a difference in the digital world.
