Filmmaker Karan Johar recently revealed his admiration for director SS Rajamouli and shared how he became involved in presenting the blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Speaking to Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel, Johar clarified that it was he who approached Rajamouli, not the other way around.

“I approached him. I was obsessed with Rajamouli from even before. His first ever film is called Student No. 1 and I got the idea for my film’s title Student Of The Year from that movie. I love that title. I am that obsessed with Rajamouli sir. I have watched all his films,” Johar said.
The filmmaker also credited actor Rana Daggubati for arranging a meeting between him and Rajamouli. “Until that time, people from our cinema weren’t even aware about the genius of Rajamouli, I knew. I kept asking Rana about Baahubali. Then, he arranged a meeting with Rajamouli sir,” he added.
Johar didn’t hold back his thoughts on Rajamouli’s Hindi-dubbed film Makkhi (originally Eega), which failed to resonate with Hindi-speaking audiences despite its original success. “A film that didn’t work for Rajamouli sir in Hindi was Makkhi. According to me, it is one of the best films ever made. Makkhi wasn’t marketed properly,” he said.
Reflecting on his excitement to present Baahubali 2, Johar said, “That’s why I told him that I think what you’ve made is spectacular, it’s the biggest motion picture of India, and I would love to position it. I was always a big fan and I was very excited about presenting Baahubali. That was in many ways a game changer.”
Speaking of the professional front, KJo is currently busy with the promotions of his multiple production ventures, including the recent releases Homebound and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
