Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday hit back at Governor RN Ravi, listing out what he called the “many battles” the state has been fighting, from protecting federal rights to defending social justice and secularism.
Governor Ravi had earlier remarked that he saw slogans like ‘Tamil Nadu poraadum’ (Tamil Nadu will fight) written on walls across the state and questioned, “Fight with whom? No one is fighting against Tamil Nadu.”
Responding to the Governor’s remark asking, “Who is Tamil Nadu fighting against?” Stalin in a post on X said the state fights against “arrogance, fanaticism, and conspiracies” that undermine education, equality, and democracy.
“It fights against the arrogance that says education funds will only be provided if Hindi is accepted,” Stalin said in a detailed statement. He accused the Centre of attempting to impose Hindi and push superstition into institutions meant to promote scientific thinking.
The Chief Minister also said Tamil Nadu was fighting “anti-democratic forces that suppress governments elected by the people” and “those who seek to demean the dignity of the Constitution.” He added that the state has repeatedly approached the courts to safeguard its rights against the Governor’s “overreach of authority.”
Stalin further alleged that “cunning groups filled with religious fanaticism” were obstructing India’s progress and warned of efforts to shift Tamil Nadu’s industries and jobs to other states. He accused “domineering fanatics with RSS backing” of trying to “disrupt the unity of the Indian people and reinstate Manusmriti.”
He also cited issues like NEET, delimitation, and the alleged saffronisation of cultural icons such as Thiruvalluvar and the Keeladi excavations as examples of what Tamil Nadu continues to oppose.
Concluding his statement, Stalin said, “Even after being rejected and sent away by the people of Nagaland, the Governor, who works only to create confusion among the people of Tamil Nadu, is also fought against. In the end, Tamil Nadu will triumph and protect the entirety of India.”
