Aneet Padda is one of the most well-known names across the country today. However, did you know that there was a time when the actress was trying to break into the industry and was almost scammed?

Before becoming the most loved face in the entertainment industry with Saiyaara, Aneet Padda had only dreamed of being on the big screen. The dream began when the actress was only 10 years old. However, it soon took root as the wide-eyed 17-year-old with a dream, a dodgy internet connection, and a list of Google searches about ‘acting auditions near me’ found herself looking for what, at the time, she referred to as a ‘silly dream’.

However, her journey was anything but easy, as she fell prey to the harsh realities of chasing fame, a journey marked by fake websites, awkward self-tapes, and rejections that eventually paved the way for her big break. The actress opened up about her journey in the industry in a recent conversation with Cosmopolitan India, recalling how she initially tried to break into the industry with her ‘horrible biodata and Snapchat filter photos’.

During the conversation, she recalled how she had sat on her computer for days, searching for ‘auditions near her’. She revealed that she was only 17 years old at the time and landed herself on some shady websites. She even hired friends to rehearse scenes with her, but soon decided to continue alone, joking that “the chemistry was a bit off.” She further added:

“I came across shady websites that were basically scams.”

“I was never a casual cinema-goer. For the longest time I told myself ‘you are so silly for even wanting to do anything about this.’ I stopped dreaming for a while.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aneed Padda’s search for a job in the film industry intensified. She revealed that she had sent her unpolished biodata and pictures with a Snapchat filter to almost 70 production houses in the industry, hoping they would notice her. However, eventually, she realised that legitimate casting opportunities were often managed through professional agencies. She was quoted as saying:

“Almost every production has my horrible biodata and Snapchat filter photos.”
