Vidarbha are in complete control of the Irani Cup clash against Rest of India at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur, holding a commanding 224-run lead after bowling out their opponents for 214 in the first innings.

Riding on a solid first-innings total of 342, Vidarbha’s bowlers, led by a fiery four-wicket haul from Yash Thakur, ensured Rest of India struggled throughout their innings, setting the hosts up perfectly for a strong second-innings position.

Irani Cup, Vidarbha vs Rest of India Highlights

The first innings saw Vidarbha rely heavily on Atharva Taide, who played a marathon knock of 143 off 283 balls, supported by Yash Rathod’s elegant 91. Other contributions were intermittent, but the total of 342 was a solid platform for the bowlers to exploit. Akash Deep (3/51) and Saransh Jain (2/94) also provided crucial breakthroughs, while Thakur was the standout performer in the bowling department.

Rest of India’s reply never gained momentum. Thakur turned the game with a devastating four-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 4/66. Parth Rekhade and Dhruv Shorey also chipped in with vital wickets, leaving Rest of India all out in 69.5 overs.

Rajat Patidar scored 66 while Abhimanyu Easwaran chipped in with a 52-run knock, but they couldn’t prevent the visitors from falling significantly behind.

Vidarbha’s second innings saw the hosts reach 96/2 at stumps. Aman Mokhade (37) and Dhruv Shorey (24 not out) ensured that Vidarbha’s lead continued to grow, leaving them firmly in control with eight wickets in hand. Atharva Taide fell for 15, but Dhruv Shorey and Danish Malewar stayed unbeaten until the end of the day’s play.

With Day 4 ahead, Vidarbha remains in the driver’s seat. Rest of India will need a strong batting resurgence to wrest control, while Vidarbha can rely on their potent bowling arsenal to push for an outright win.
