Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu has responded with legal action against his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya following her recent public allegations. The dispute, which has attracted significant attention, centres on accusations made by Bhattacharya regarding the conduct of Sanu and his family during her third pregnancy.

The controversy escalated after Bhattacharya accused Sanu and his family of denying her food and basic necessities. Sanu, through his lawyer Sana Raees Khan, has now formally challenged these allegations.

Sana Raees Khan, representing Kumar Sanu, addressed the issue with an official statement. Khan emphasised the singer’s longstanding career and reputation. “For over 40 years, Mr. Kumar Sanu has poured his soul into music, giving joy to millions and earning love and respect across the world. Hurtful Lies may create noise for a moment, but they can never erase the legacy of an artist who has given a lifetime of music and memories to generations,” a part of her statement read.

Continuing her remarks, Khan stated the intention to pursue legal recourse to defend her client. She said, “We will ensure that malicious attempts to defame him are met with the full force of the law to protect his dignity, legacy and family honour. No individual or media platform has the right to malign a father’s honour or trade his family’s respect for sensationalism.” This declaration reinforces the seriousness with which the legal team is approaching the allegations.

Speaking to Film Window, Rita described Kumar Sanu as “very insecure” and said he did not allow her to step out of the house. She further revealed that his sister left her own family to live with them, sharing a room with Kumar Sanu while Rita slept in another room with their children. She alleged that both of them subjected her to repeated mistreatment.

In her interview, Bhattacharya described specific actions allegedly taken by Sanu, stating, “He ran away. He even took the microwave and the fans with him. After that, he stopped milk and medicine deliveries to the house, but fortunately, both the milkman and the doctor continued visiting. You don’t know how much this man has tortured me and my three children.”

Sanu’s legal team maintains that the allegations are not only unfounded but also damaging to his reputation. The legal notice has been sent to formally address the matter and set the record straight regarding Bhattacharya’s claims.
