But do you remember the young girl and boy, who are dancing in the music video? Well, the little boy is Park Geon-roung, who was just 6 years old back then, and now he is 17.
Who is Park Geon-roung?
Park Geon-roung was the little boy featured in the original Baby Shark video, which was uploaded in 2016 by a South Korean educational brand, Pinkfong. In the video, Park, who was only 6 years old at that time, wore an animated life ring and danced with shark-like hand moves on his head. His cute smile, simple steps and innocence made the video unforgettable for both kids and parents even after almost a decade of its release. On Park’s own Instagram page, his bio reads, ‘BabyShark Boy’ and also mentions his birth date.
Internet reacts to an older Park Geon-roung
Recently, the official Instagram page of Baby Shark, shared a reel, which is winning hearts all over the internet. The reel showed the tiny 6-year-old from the original video and then cut to Park today as a teenager, who gives a high-five to a shark. The caption of the reel can be read as:
“Do you remember the baby shark boy?”
This reel posted on Instagram went viral within minutes and sparked a wave of comments, blending surprise and nostalgia on social media. One user commented, “Wait wait wait… I am that old.” Another fan wrote, “They grow up so fast!” A third user penned, “Omg I didn’t know that he looks great.”

Legal claims against Baby Shark
Since the song, Baby Shark is so famous, the song also faced legal issues about who owned it. Composer, Jonathan Wright had taken it to the South Korean Supreme court, accusing Pinkfong of plagiarizing his earlier version of the song. However, later the court rejected his claim, as there were already prior versions of Baby Shark in existence and he did not significantly add new creativity.
