GV Prakash Kumar and his wife, Saindhavi, are famous names of the Tamil music industry. The couple was married for 12 years and also has a child together. But their marriage hit a rough patch last year, and they filed for divorce. Now, the Chennai Family Court granted them a divorce after a six-month cooling-off period.

GV Prakash and Saindhavi got married in 2013, after getting close during their school days. The once-madly-in-love couple got blessed with a baby girl in 2020, whom they have named Anvi. On September 30, 2025, the Chennai Family Court completed its divorce proceedings after a six-month period of reconciliation. The singer and music composer has agreed to give the custody of their daughter, Anvi, to Saindhavi. However, they will continue to co-parent their daughter.

GV Prakash and Saindhavi had decided to end their marriage on May 13, 2024. They shared the post on their social media handle. The music director announced how he and Saindhavi decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. They even requested the media, friends and fans to give them privacy in this personal transition. The post can be read as:
“After much reflection, Saindhavi and I have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. For the sake of our mental peace and betterment while preserving our mutual respect for each other. We kindly ask the Media, friends and fans to understand and respect our privacy during this deeply personal transition. Acknowledging that we are growing apart, we believe this is the best decision for each other. Your understanding and support means a lot during this difficult time. Thank You.”
Despite it, the couple made sure to fulfil their work commitments. The duo were spotted together as they shared the stage during a tribute concert held in Chennai. The moment went viral on the internet. They came together to give tribute to the late lyricist, Na Muthukuma. At the event, GV Prakash Kumar and Saindhavi performed the romantic song Yaar Indha Saalai Oram from the 2013 film, Thalaivaa. Their performance after the separation moved the audience. The clip went viral on social media.
GV Prakash is the nephew of AR Rahman
For those unfamiliar, GV Prakash Kumar is the nephew of the renowned musician A.R. Rahman. Last year, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, left everyone in dismay with their divorce announcement in 2024. There were a lot of emotions, and people soon started speculating about the reason for their separation. Amidst it, there were many people who thought Saira was in an unhappy marriage, but they later dismissed this notion.

Regarding AR Rahman being trolled for using a hashtag, she added that she later realised the reason for the hashtag. However, they used it as people stopped using semicolons.
