Khichdi: The Movie (2010) completed 15 years on October 1. This also means that Kirti Kulhari completed 15 years as an actor as well. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, the talented actress opened up on this milestone in her career.
EXCLUSIVE: Kirti Kulhari completes 15 years as an actor: “I look back at my journey with a lot of gratitude. NO regrets whatsoever”; raises expectations for Four More Shots Please S 04: “It’s BIGGER, better, funnier and MORE glamorous”
Kirti Kulhari said, “It’s only during moments like these that I get reminded that ‘Oh, I’ve been here forever’! Otherwise, the way the work is going and in terms of feeling about myself, my work and my life, it just feels like I’ve just started my journey. The freshness and the youthfulness of my spirit and my work lives on. I am getting to do more and more interesting stuff. So, it feels like life has just begun.”
She continued, “I plan to take more roles in the coming future, like turning producer. I may also direct at some point. I’ll go into different extensions of what I do. But I think I am in a good space. I look back at my journey with a lot of gratitude. No regrets whatsoever. I have learned a lot through my successes and failures.”
Khichdi: The Movie was a small film and clashed with two biggies – the Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer Anjaana Anjaani and Rajinikanth’s VFX-heavy entertainer, Robot. Anjaana Anjaani was all set to release a week earlier, but it got pushed by a week due to some tensions in the country. There were fears that Khichdi: The Movie might be affected. However, it managed to be a decent success at the box office.
Does Kirti Kulhari remember the day her film released amid fears of it getting overpowered by the other films? The actress replied, “I don’t really remember. I was at the premiere. I barely knew how other films releasing on the same day could affect the business of your film. I was so fresh that I had no clue. It was great, actually. Sometimes, I look back and think, ‘It’s nice to not know so much’. You can just enjoy the moment (smiles).”
Kirti Kulhari has some interesting projects in her kitty, including the highly acclaimed Full Plate and the fourth season of the very popular show, Four More Shots Please. When asked about the latter, Kirti answered, “We have finished shooting for it. It’s been a really fun season. It’s bigger, better, funnier and more glamorous. People can look forward to its release very soon!”
