Michael Kors is offering two special-edition T-shirts made from a blend of cotton and linen and designed to support the World Food Programme. The two designs feature photographs, taken by Maxime Poiblanc, of fruits and vegetables grown by WFP’s home-grown school feeding program in Sri Lanka, where Michael Kors is currently directing its support.
The T-shirts will be sold online at michaelkors.com and in select Michael Kors stores globally beginning Wednesday. All profits from the sale of the T-shirt, priced at $40, go to WFP.
In May, Kors visited the headquarters of the World Food Programme in Rome to show the brand’s support for the humanitarian organization and speak with executive director Cindy McCain and other WFP leaders about Watch Hunger Stop, Kors’ hunger-fighting initiative. The brand’s partnership with WFP began in 2013 with the mission of providing nutritious school meals to children in food insecure regions of the world. Over the past decade, Kors has helped WFP deliver more than 35 million school meals.
As disclosed last year, Watch Hunger Stop is focused on supporting WFP’s home-grown school feeding program, an innovative and proven way to help support local farmers, many of whom are women, and build more resilient communities while providing school meals to children in need. Home-grown school feeding focuses on supporting local suppliers so they can grow safe, nutritious and diverse food for children in school. By connecting school caterers to local farmers, the program ensures that the ingredients in school meals are sourced from their community and enrich the local economy. Farms gain a reliable source of income along with useful training and tools. And children get the nutrition they need to grow, thrive and stay in school.
Once the decision was made to support home-grown school feeding programs, Kors and WFP identified Sri Lanka, where WFP has worked for decades, as the first country where they would work together. Over three years, Kors’ funding will enable WFP to provide consistent school meals for 250,000 children while assisting 1,500 farmers to supply eggs, vegetables and fruits across 10 districts in Sri Lanka. In addition, with support from Michael Kors, WFP will be able to equip 30 schools with solar panels, upgraded kitchens and improved classrooms, enhancing the learning environments for more than 3,000 students.
“I was honored and excited to visit the headquarters of WFP and meet the people there, doing so much to fight hunger around the globe,” Kors said. “To glimpse the inner workings of the world’s largest humanitarian organization was inspiring, and to stand in front of the memorial to the staff members who’ve lost their lives in the line of duty was a moving reminder of the dedication and bravery of WFP employees. I left even prouder of our Watch Hunger Stop partnership, and more committed than ever to help end hunger in the world.”
For each Watch Hunger Stop T-shirt purchased from a Michael Kors retail store or official Michael Kors website, Kors will donate 100 percent of profits to WFP. Michael Kors has committed a minimum donation of $1 million to WFP through Sept. 30, 2026. All funds raised will be donated to WFP USA, a charity that supports the programs of WFP.
