US President Donald Trump reshared Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message backing his new plan to end the Gaza conflict. However, Trump did not add any words of his own, simply reposting Modi’s endorsement on Truth Social.
In his post, Modi said India “welcomes President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict.” He added that the blueprint offers “a viable pathway to long term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”
Modi expressed hope that “all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative,” signaling India’s endorsement of Washington’s effort to mediate one of the world’s most intractable conflicts.
The move comes as the White House seeks to shore up international support for the peace plan, which Trump has touted as his administration’s boldest step toward resolving the Middle East’s bloodiest crisis.
The White House on Monday rolled out a 20-point plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict, calling for an immediate ceasefire, a hostage-prisoner exchange, a phased Israeli withdrawal, Hamas disarmament, and a transitional government overseen by an international body.
The proposal was released following a meeting between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office.
Standing alongside Netanyahu, Trump struck an optimistic tone. He said the two sides were “beyond very close” to an elusive deal but cautioned that Israel would have America’s “full US support” to act if Hamas rejected the plan.
Netanyahu returned the praise, hailing Trump as a “friend of Israel.” Yet he also signaled reservations over parts of the US blueprint, particularly proposed reforms to the Palestinian Authority and the long-debated question of Palestinian statehood.
Meanwhile, Hamas said on Tuesday it will discuss Trump’s peace plan for Gaza within the militant group and with other Palestinian factions before responding. The proposal demands that Hamas effectively surrender and disarm in return for an end to fighting, humanitarian aid for Palestinians and the promise of reconstruction in Gaza. As international support builds for the proposal, Trump told reporters that Hamas has “three or four days” to give its response.
