There are so many fun summer trends to dive into, from dopamine-inducing jelly sandals to the polarizing naked skirt. But which trends are Vogue editors truly excited to wear? Well, I’ve enlisted help from my colleagues to unearth the most coveted of-the-moment items to shop this season.

    The Summer Trend Shopping List

For many editors, it’s all about trending color palettes. One editor is sold on the striking allure of vibrant tomato reds, while a few others are are wavering on the other side of the spectrum with soft creams and head-to-toe white ensembles. A few editors are all about amplifying the texture in their wardrobes this season. Whether it be with a crochet top, bow-embellished frill, or twirl-worthy fringe.

Discover all of the summer trends Vogue editors are excited for below.

    Jelly Sandals

I keep getting served ads for Ancient Greek Sandals’ colorful jelly ballerina flats. The algorithm really gets me. Robert Clergerie’s jelly heels were the first designer shoes I bought as a new New Yorker in the 1990s. A trend I am happy to see come back. —Nicole Phelps, global director of Vogue Runway and Vogue Business

    Capris

Call me crazy, but I’m excited about the return of capris as a coveted piece of one’s spring/summer wardrobe. I am so happy, in fact, that I’ll continue to wear them long after the trend becomes temporarily gauche—I’m a big advocate of “who cares, wear what you want!” As someone prone to wardrobe malfunctions (mini skirts and shorts rarely sit comfortably on my figure), a short trouser is a perfect solution. When selecting the perfect pair, I prefer a minimalistic approach—something that’s a solid color and easily mixed with the rest of your wardrobe. If you see someone doing a Carrie Bradshaw run across the street in capris and kitten heels…it’s me! —Conçetta Ciarlo, associate manager of events

    Sheer Thrills

I can’t stop thinking about Gucci’s resort collection—the styling was just so good and perfectly captures how I want to be dressing for a summer in the city. I love the sheer, embellished skirt with an oversized button-up or tunic (I’ve yet to find the latter!) but will definitely be it styling with my Our Legacy shirt which I’ve been wearing non-stop. It’s really easy outfit formula to copy, too: Swap out the skirt for a white denim midiskirt to maintain texture, or sub the loafer and sock combo in for a minimalist sandal. A big raffia tote or leather rope belt would be fun to play with proportions as well! —Talia Abbas, senior shopping editor

This summer, I plan to embrace the effortless trend of wearing head-to-toe white. My inspiration began with Tove’s runway show, and it’s easy to accomplish with modern wardrobe staples from Khaite and Dôen. —Mai Morsch, fashion editor

    Crochet Layers

This summer, I’m really looking forward to adding texture into my looks via crochet tops. There are so many cool iterations on the market right now, from up-and-comers like Diotima, Anna October, and The Garment, as well as The Row (its pre-fall 2023 collection pictured here). While knitted crochet is a quintessential summer mainstay, I particularly love the way it’s presenting itself this season. It’s not just something you throw in your suitcase for a vacation, but adds dimension and playfulness under tailoring or atop trousers. It’s a surprisingly versatile summer wardrobe piece.—Madeline Fass, senior shopping market editor

I love the wide-leg khaki chinos that are everywhere this spring. It seems no pant leg is too wide! I love the Disney-fied Annie Hall look that Polo Ralph Lauren did for spring and am loving the Dôen x Gap chinos, both for me and for my 2-year-old toddler whose trousers are extremely adorable. —Chloe Malle, editor of Vogue.com

    Raffia

This summer, my style mantra is the more raffia, the merrier! While sporting the natural fiber during the warm weather months is a given, this season, it seems to be everywhere—and on everything, from handbags to footwear, right now. Designers like The Row and Bottega Veneta have something to do with this, of course. (Their woven styles are topping our shopping carts in more ways than one.) I’m particularly drawn to this roomy raffia tote by Sensi Studio, a summer handbag that works double-time from the city streets to the seaside. Meanwhile, a pair of raffia-adorned mules from Paloma Barceló are a must-have in my vacation capsule wardrobe—and now yours too! —Laura Jackson, commerce writer

    Pendant Necklaces

I love playing with different kinds of jewelry to give my everyday outfits a more summertime feel. Like seashells and summer camp jewelry of season’s past, this summer, it’s all about the artful pendant necklace–more specifically, pendants on cords. With linen shirts, easy dresses, or even swimwear, these necklaces feel right in both urban and coastal settings. —Madeline Fass, senior shopping market editor

    Textured Theory

Instead of reinventing the wheel this summer, I’m leaning into classics with a textured twist. In exchange of a plain cotton tank, I’ll take a page from Diotima’s book with playful modern updates—crochet, lace, ribbon, and rosettes are all fair game. I plan on pairing the textured top with a versatile, voluminous maxi skirt, go-with-anything leather kitten heels, and a statement handbag in a summery nautical print. —Kiana Murden, beauty commerce writer

This summer, I’m reviving my prep-school wardrobe. Taking cues from the iconic Ralph Lauren, I can’t get enough striped Oxford shirts, navy sweaters wrapped around my shoulders, and flowy white maxi skirts. By blending a nautical meets bohemian style, reminiscent of Lauren’s spring 2018 collection, I’m infusing an easygoing elegance into my everyday summer looks. —Eliseé Browchuk, experiences production and marketing manager

The show took place outside in Paris, on a bridge over the Seine. This Dries Van Noten look from spring 2024 is how I’m envisioning my summer style. I love a sheer shirt moment—this JPG x KNWLS moment is such a cool take on the mariniere and in the winter I could layer it over another thin turtleneck so I would get a lot of mileage out of it in my closet. I’m very into the Dries Van Noten socks and shoe moment, and though I love love love the pump, the real me would likely wear the flip-flop version instead (hey! the socks have tabi toes for a reason!). —Laia Garcia-Furtado, senior fashion news editor
