Recently, The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, which is in the news for all the positive reasons, got into a controversy. The National Human Rights Commission asked the Mumbai Police to take action against the makers of the show, OTT platform Netflix and actor Ranbir Kapoor for a scene of the latter using an e-cigarette. The NHRC said that the scene of Ranbir smoking through a vape is a violation of the Prohibition of the Electric Cigarettes Act 2019. Manish Chaudhari has played the important role of Freddy Sodawallah in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. During an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama, the talented actor opened up about it.

He said, “It’s unfortunate that it’s something that people are focusing on. When something works, a lot of things happen. We are very lucky that 99.9% of things that are happening around the series are all positive. So, I am very happy. And I am sure there’s a logistical, technical way of working around that problem.”
It is Manish Chaudhari who says the viral dialogue ‘Say no to drugs’. The one-liner is followed by Aryan Khan’s mention as a director in the end credits slate. On this, Manish Chaudhari said, “It has landed very positively. Aryan has managed to make such an immersive world in which people are so easily and entertainingly drawn in. At the end of the day, when the audience gives you a thumbs up, there’s no better and bigger feeling of thankfulness. That’s what I feel right now.”
It’s been an outstanding 2025 for Manish Chaudhari thanks to the success of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, Sky Force, Aap Jaisa Koi etc. Sanam Teri Kasam (2006) was re-released and became a historic blockbuster. When asked if this was one of his best years of his career, he replied, “Undoubtedly. Also, this is my 30th year in this business. I just completed 30 years in June. I have had 6 releases, one of them being a re-release, namely, Sanam Teri Kasam. It broke all re-release records!”
He reminded, “Kingdom also worked well. It did decent business at the box office while it’s doing very well on Netflix in Hindi and other languages. Aap Jaisa Koi received a lot of love. It’s a great pleasure when your work reaches the audience and they give you a thumbs-up.”
There have been talks of the sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam. Manish Chaudhari said, “I haven’t been approached for the sequel. But you never know. Things might happen soon. I’ll keep you posted (smiles).”
And what about The Ba***ds Of Bollywood Season 2? There’s a lot left in terms of plot. Manish Chaudhari agreed, “Of course, the story is not over by a long shot. But at the moment, there has been no talk whatsoever of the second season.”
When asked about his forthcoming films, he revealed, “My next is with Dharma. It’s called Chand Mera Dil. It should be released in early 2026. Vivek Soni, who helmed Aap Jaisa Koi, is directing it. I have also signed Imtiaz Ali’s film. I’ll start filming for it soon and it’ll also arrive next year.”
Though he’s a versatile actor, Manish Chaudhari is mainly typecast in negative roles. What are his views on it? Manish Chaudhari flashed his lovely smile and answered, “Well, never say die. You never know, there might be a positive role around the corner for me. I’ll be happy to do it.”
