Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan joined the chorus of celebration after Team India clinched the Asia Cup title against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. The legendary star, who often shares his cricketing enthusiasm online, took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a cheeky message that instantly grabbed attention.

Amitabh’s post carried a witty dig at former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who recently made headlines for a slip of the tongue. During a cricket talk show, Game On Hai, Shoaib mistakenly referred to Abhishek Bachchan while analysing India’s batting line-up, instead of young opener Abhishek Sharma. “If Pakistan gets Abhishek Bachchan out early on…,” Shoaib had remarked, prompting laughter and corrections from fellow panellists.
Pouncing on the viral clip, Amitabh wrote after India’s win: “T 5516(i) – Jeet gaye!! Well played, ‘Abhishek Bachchan’. He added, “Udhar jabaan ladkhadai, aur udhar, bina batting bowling fielding kiye, ladkhada diya dushman ko!! Bolti bandh!! Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Jai Maa Durga!!!”

The tweet struck a humorous chord, both praising India’s performance and poking fun at the mix-up. Abhishek Bachchan himself had earlier reacted to Shoaib’s gaffe, quipping, “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket.”
On the field, India’s victory was sealed by Tilak Varma’s composed half-century, supported by Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, as they chased down Pakistan’s target to secure their second T20I Asia Cup title and ninth overall, across formats.
