Continuing his tirade against media outlets suggesting that he visited convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private island in 2014, Elon Musk said, “Anyone pushing this false narrative deserves complete contempt.”
“Shame on Sky News for this utterly misleading headline,” he tweeted.
Explaining his side of the story, Musk claimed that he refused Epstein’s invitation to the private island and added, “Yet they name me even before Prince Andrew, who did visit.”
On Saturday, Musk lashed out at the “Democratic Party and their media allies”, claiming that they were targeting him as they see him as a “threat.”
“Democratic Party & their media allies see Elon as a threat because he exposes corruption, challenges their narrative, & gives people free speech through X,” Musk tweeted.
This came hours after he posted a three-word message refuting media reports linking him to Jeffrey Epstein’s island, following the release of thousands of documents from Epstein’s estate, tweeting: “This is false,” his first response.
Shortly after criticising Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ earlier this year, Musk claimed on social media that the US President was mentioned in the Epstein files.
In July, he asked, “How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?”
Newly released six pages of documents, provided by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and partially disclosed by Democratic members, include daily schedules, flight logs, financial records, and phone messages from Epstein’s dealings over nearly three decades.
Among the released materials is an itinerary suggesting a possible trip by Musk to Epstein’s private estate in the US’s Virgin Islands in December 2014.
The newly disclosed records also mention other prominent figures, including US entrepreneur Peter Thiel and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, indicating planned meetings and events with Epstein over several years.
Democratic members of the committee have highlighted the continuing influence Epstein wielded among powerful circles. The files include financial ledgers with payments for “massages” associated with Prince Andrew, as well as detailed flight logs showing travel by Epstein, his aide Ghislaine Maxwell, and others as early as 2000. Maxwell remains in prison for sex trafficking minors.
“It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world,” Oversight spokesperson Sara Guerrero said, adding, “Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”
Republicans on the committee criticised Democrats for releasing the information unilaterally, describing the move as politically motivated. A Republican Party spokesperson accused Democrats of “cherry-picking documents” and claimed some files referencing Democratic officials were withheld.
Questions remain about the ongoing review process, as committee members have emphasised that many of the documents remain heavily redacted to protect the privacy of victims, with further disclosures expected in the near future.
