A 15-year-old school student died after being assaulted by a group of boys in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Friday evening, police said on Saturday.

According to officials, the incident followed a verbal altercation earlier in the day between the victim, who used to study in class 10th, and another student.

Later that afternoon, the other student allegedly returned with a group and attacked the boy with fists and blows. No external injuries were visible at the time, police said.

The dispute is believed to have started a few days ago over a minor issue and escalated after school hours when individuals from outside the school reportedly joined the assault.

The student was taken to a nearby hospital in an injured condition, where he died during treatment.

Police said a case has been registered and several juveniles have been apprehended in the case. Multiple teams have been formed to trace the remaining suspects.

Officers are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the sequence of events and potential suspects. Eyewitnesses present at the scene are also being interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and the cause of death will be confirmed following the medical report. Investigation is underway.
