Bollywood actress and avid cricket enthusiast, Saiyami Kher, recently embarked on a mission to bolster support for India’s women’s cricket team ahead of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. In a heartwarming initiative, she visited schools in Mumbai and Delhi, engaging with students and distributing cricket kits and team jerseys. Her goal was to inspire the younger generation to rally behind the team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, as they prepare for the tournament commencing on September 30.

During her visits, Kher emphasized the importance of equal support for both men’s and women’s cricket. She remarked, “The Bleed Blue spirit shouldn’t belong only to men’s cricket. Our women’s team deserves the same roar of support.” Her words resonated with the students, igniting a sense of pride and enthusiasm for the women’s team.
Beyond promoting support, Kher’s initiative aimed to encourage young girls to pursue cricket. She shared, “Visiting the schools was not just about handing out equipment; it was about planting a seed of belief in those young girls that their dreams are valid, and their efforts matter.” Reflecting on her personal connection to the sport, Kher added, “Cricket has taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience. But somewhere along the way, we’ve allowed the narrative to focus only on men wearing the blue jersey, forgetting that our women cricketers are equally deserving of recognition, respect, and support.”
Kher expressed optimism about the future of women’s cricket, stating, “When I see the incredible talent among young girls today, I feel hopeful of a future where women’s cricket stands shoulder-to-shoulder with men’s cricket in every aspect.” Her efforts underscore the growing recognition and support for women’s sports in India, paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable sporting culture.
