Tom Sachs and Nike are showing some love to losers. That is, those who didn’t win the opportunity to purchase the artist’s much-hyped Mars Yard 3.0.

The Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe Participation Shoe is a new colorway available exclusively to purchase by I.S.R.U. app users who didn’t accumulate enough points to buy the Mars Yard 3.0. While primarily rendered in gray with yellowed elements to suggest aging, dashes of red include several placements for the I.S.R.U. logo. On the shoe’s medial side, you’ll even find a print of Sachs’ handwriting calling out the program.

This consolation prize serves as the first new edition of the General Purpose Shoe since 2023, when Sachs’ Nike partnership was put on pause because of allegations concerning the workplace environment as his studio. Debuting the year prior, the model was designed with the intent of being boring, and accessibility was prioritized to the point that one colorway was even stocked at Kohl’s.

A campaign for the GPS’ first colorway said: “It took us 10 years to make a sneaker this simple — as simple as can be and no simpler. A do-more sneaker. An own-less sneaker. A show-up, prove-it, whole-life, be-you sneaker.”

In order to purchase the Mars Yard 3.0, successor eight years in the making to the legendary Mars Yard 2.0, users had to participate in nearly two months of challenges on the I.S.R.U. app and earn enough points. Those eligible were able to either purchase directly or preorder a pair for delivery in 2026. A small selection of boutiques also released the Mars Yard 3.0 with their own requirements for participation in the program.

The Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe Participation Shoe is available to preorder now on the I.S.R.U. Pricing is set at $110, and orders will be shipped in summer 2026.
