The shocking case came to light when Dabba Cartel actress Shalini Pandey spotted the dog and immediately alerted People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India.

For Shalini Pandey, the incident was deeply upsetting. Sharing her emotional reaction, the actress said, “When I saw this helpless dog dyed blue, my heart broke. Animals aren’t for our amusement—they’re living beings who deserve love and respect. Dye can cause a dog’s skin to become irritated, burn or worse—it can even poison an animal as they attempt to lick it off. I’m grateful to PETA India for rushing to help him. I also urge people who care about dogs to choose to adopt from a shelter or the street instead of supporting breeders or pet stores.”
Acting swiftly, the PETA India team rushed to the location, searched for the dog, and ensured he received urgent care. The dog’s fur was carefully cleaned, and a full medical check-up was carried out to rule out any serious harm. During the process, the organisation discovered that the animal was sterilised and already had a feeder who regularly looked after him. Once treated and found fit, he was safely released back into his familiar neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, by speaking out on the issue, Shalini Pandey not only brought timely attention to a vulnerable animal but also amplified the message of adoption and compassion—values that PETA India continues to champion.
This incident serves as a sobering reminder that festivities should never come at the cost of cruelty towards animals.
