Ayushmann Khurrana, blockbuster producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, director Aditya Sarpotdar, writer Niren Bhatt and the much-loved Stree, that is, Shraddha Kapoor, attended the trailer launch of Maddock’s highly awaited film, Thamma. Ayushmann and Dinesh spoke highly of each other during the question-and-answer session with the media. Both had worked together in Bala (2019).

Ayushmann Khurrana said, “Thamma is very special. I always wanted to be a part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. It is the most sought-after universe in the history of Indian cinema. Also, I play a common man with uncommon things happening around me. My character has supernatural powers but doesn’t know what to do about it. It’s a unique character that I haven’t played before. At the same time, I truly believe in Dinesh Vijan. Sometimes, I wish him ‘Happy Teacher’s Day’ on September 5, kyunki inse kaafi kuchh seekhne ko milta hai! With him, you are in very safe hands.”
He added, “Thamma is really exciting and it’s disruptive. I am waiting for Diwali.”
Dinesh Vijan added, “I have seen the film and he (Ayushmann) hasn’t. Bala showed the sensitive side of Ayushmann. He’s usually a detached actor once he finishes the film. But Bala was a character that he couldn’t let go of. He was highly emotional, which was unlike him. But I have to tell you that Thamma is going to show you something that you haven’t seen before. It is his career-best performance. It is a character which has so much range. In the beginning of Thamma, he’s a common man like all of us. At the end of the film, he’s a sexy beast!”
Thamma also stars Rashmika Mandanna, who couldn’t make it as she’s shooting for Cocktail 2, also produced by Dinesh Vijan, in Italy, along with Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. She sent a video message, apologizing for her absence and wishing the team lots of luck.
Thamma releases in cinemas on October 21.
