Peacemaker has finally kicked into higher gear after a prolonged, slow-burning season in episode 6. Written and directed by James Gunn, the episode marked some major revelations, big features, character confrontations and a chilling turn that redefines the so-called ‘Best Dimension Ever’. As John Cena’s Peacemaker navigates what he once thought was a personal utopia, the curtain drops, revealing a thick veil of fascism, deception, and heartbreak.

Peacemaker 2 and the Nazi planet

The internet has been calling the Peacemaker 2, the Nazi planet, and now it’s official. ‘Chris Smith’s’ dream world is a Nazi hellscape. While it initially appeared idyllic, complete with a loving family and old friends, the cracks have now begun to show. ‘Harcourt’ (Jennifer Holland) notes the lack of diversity, and ‘Ads’ (Danielle Brooks) is quickly targeted simply for existing as a Black woman. However, that is not all, soon enough, the utopia shatters as a full-blown mob chase erupts, led by ‘Chris’, seemingly sweet alt-brother. ‘Keith’, who chillingly screams:

    “One got out! A Black!”

    ‘Lex Luthor’ returns to Peacemaker

Nichole Hoult’s ‘Lex Luthor’ also marks his return in Peacemaker 2 with a more chilling tone than Superman. Now working with ‘Rick Flag Sr.’ (Frank Grillo), ‘Lex’ provides the tech needed to track Peacemaker‘s dimensional portal. Their partnership hints at deeper agendas, especially with ‘Rick Sr.’ revealing he has his ‘own idea’ once he gets ‘Chris’ tech. This scene not only advances the plot but also repositions ‘Rick’ as a morally grey figure, rather than the central villain.

The 11th Street kids are in trouble

Each member of the team ends up in their own subplot in the episode. ‘Economos’ (Steve Agee) is sticking around the ‘Smith’ house on a naive hunch. However, he is attacked by ‘alt-Auggie’ and brutally interrogated. ‘Vigilante’ (Freddie Stroma), on the other hand, gets a comedic-yet-dark reunion with his alt-self, only to learn that ‘alt-Adrian’ is a member of the Sons of Liberty, the same group that ‘Chris’ murdered back in Episode 3, believing they were terrorists. It turns out they were likely freedom fighters in this twisted dimension, making ‘Chris’s’ actions even more tragic.

    ‘Chris’ and ‘Harcourt’s’ complicated connection

The emotional core of the episode still surrounds ‘Chris’ and ‘Harcourt’s’ evolving relationship. While he confesses his love, ‘Harcourt’ responds with a ‘Yeah, I know’. Additionally, as their chemistry evolves from banter to a deep, mutual connection and understanding, their romance becomes even more painful, as their dynamics become even more complex. This dynamic becomes even more complicated when ‘alt-Harcourt’ has Harcourt Prime arrested, escalating tensions in both emotional and plot-driven ways.

Furthermore, the themes are kept big with an episode rich in symbolism. ‘Chris’ ends up killing ‘alt-Auggie’s’ son mirrors how ‘Rick Sr.’ may have been chasing the memory of his own child. On the other hand, the presence of the Nazi flag is a gut-punch for a man who sees himself as a true patriot. And with ‘Lex Luthor’ limping from ‘Krypto’s’ past attack, fans wonder: Is his injury permanent? Could this lead to the teased power suit? However, as the mystery unfolds, questions continue to build, which will only be answered in future episodes.
