As class 10 and 12 results are being announced across different education boards in India, it has brought happiness for some and disappointment for others. Many students get heartbroken at the occasion because they either don’t clear it or score less than they planned. However, many great personalities have often stated how marks aren’t the only parameter for success in life. Amid the discussion on the internet, star cricketer, Virat Kohli’s Class 10th marksheet has again resurfaced on the internet, and his story exactly showcases how marks don’t showcase your future.

Virat Kohli scored the lowest marks in mathematics

Virat Kohli has often shared how he started playing cricket at a young age and made his international debut in August 2008 at the age of 19. Since he was on the ground at that age and won the U19 World Cup for the country, he gave up his education after class 11th. Even before that, Kohli’s academic performance wasn’t exceptional, yet everyone will agree that he is an exceptional battling talent for the country. To highlight the same message, the mark sheet was shared by IAS officer Jitin Yadav on August 9, 2023. Sharing the picture, he highlighted how marks don’t define your future and penned:

“Had marks been the sole factor, the entire nation wouldn’t be rallying behind him now. Passion and Dedication are the key.”

The marksheet reveals Kohli scored 83 in English 81 in Social Science, with a B1 in Hindi. At the same time, he scored C1 and C2 in Science and Introductory IT indicating an average academic profile for the globally renowned sportsperson. Despite being known as the chase master and run machine, Virat scored 51 or C2 in maths, which made it his lowest-scoring subject. Since the last decade, the same person has been setting cricketing records, which explains how success is about finding passion rather than just chasing grades.

Virat Kohli once shared scored three out of a hundred in maths

Virat Kohli has never shied away from admitting that he wasn’t good at mathematics despite working harder than cricket on it. In an old conversation at In Depth with Graham Bensinger, the cricketer shared that he was unbale to understand the complexities in maths and never used its formals in his life. Consequently, he sometimes even scored 3 out of 100. In his words:

“So in math, we used to have exams and the maximum marks we could get in 100, right? I used to get 3; I was that good. I did not understand why someone would even want to learn math.”

Virat Kohli stepped away from Test cricket after scoring more than 9 thousand runs in 14 years

Virat Kohli might not have scored much in maths, but it didn’t stop him from pursuing his passion to be one of the greatest players of cricket. Recently, after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli took to his IG handle and announced the end of his cricketing journey in the red ball format. For those unaware, the cricketer had scored 9230 runs in 123 matches. He shared an emotional note while bidding farewell to the format that he began 14 years ago. Recalling how it shaped him into the person he is today through tests and lessons, Virat penned:

“There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no one sees but that stay with you forever. As I step away from this format, it’s not easy — but it feels right. I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me back so much more than I could’ve hoped for. I’m walking away with a heart full of gratitude — for the game, for the people I shared the field with, and for every single person who made me feel seen along the way. I’ll always look back at my Test career with a smile. #269, signing off.”
