In five years, Manan Bhardwaj has carved a niche for himself as a music composer, singer and lyricist. He has been a part of the songs of significant films like Shiddat (2021), Radhe Shyam (2022), Satyaprem Ki Katha (2023), Animal (2023) etc. His sole song in Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani starrer Satyaprem Ki Katha is ‘Aaj Ke Baad’; Manon not only composed the number but also sang and wrote its lyrics. During an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Manan opened up on ‘Aaj Ke Baad’ and how Kartik Aaryan was confident that Manan would pull off the track as a singer.

Manan Bhardwaj told Bollywood Hungama, “It was Kartik who insisted that ‘Yeh gaana Manan ko hi gaana chahiye’. The version of the song that I made him hear was a demo. I guess when you keep listening to it again and again, aapko awaaz pasand aane lagti hai. That’s how he became sure about my voice for the track.”
Manoj Bhardwaj further said, “I met him during the music launch of the film. He’s a very sweet person and he gets nicely involved with the music process.”
‘Aaj Ke Baad’ also has a reprise version and its placement in the film is very crucial and clapworthy. Manoj Bhardwaj revealed, “When ‘Aaj Ke Baad’ released, it got a very good response. I got calls from Sajid sir (producer Sajid Nadiadwala), director Sameer sir (Sameer Vidwans) and Kartik. We were all together on a conference call on WhatsApp. I was driving back to Delhi. Sajid sir asked me to compose another version. That’s how the song had two versions. It was locked close to the film’s release.”
Manan Bhardwaj’s recent work was in Nishaanchi, which was released last week. In the same interview, Manan talked highly of Anurag Kashyap, “This has been a one-of-its-kind film. I have never been associated with a movie like this before. The songs are of varied genres and are situational. Also, there were a few songs that Anurag sir (Anurag Kashyap) liked. Accordingly, he wrote scenes to fit those songs. When you see the film, you’ll realize that the scenes are according to the lyrics. He gave us a lot of freedom.”
