After a long wait, ‘Dostana 2’ finally has an update. Actor Vikrant Massey, who recently won his first National Award, has confirmed that he will be stepping into the lead role in the much-anticipated film. The project also marks his first collaboration with Dharma Productions. Vikrant revealed in an interview that he would be working alongside ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ actor Lakshya. He also shared his excitement about wearing good designer clothes and fancy sunglasses in the film.
In an interview with Times Now, the actor shared, “You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing ‘Dostana 2’. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”
Discussing his upcoming film, the National Award winner said, “You will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan (Johar) sir will make sure that I wear good clothes, and I wear those fancy sunglasses. Shooting somewhere in Europe.”
He continued, “Lakshya is a part of the movie. But let the girl be a surprise.”
The actor also responded to a question about the film’s female lead. He shared, “I think wo main nahi bolunga. Wo Karan sir hi bolenge toh behtar hai. Uski bhi toh badi announcement hai (I won’t reveal that. It’ll be better if Karan sir shares it. That is also a big announcement).”
‘Dostana 2’ originally featured Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya. However, the production was halted after Kartik exited the film due to creative differences, prompting Dharma Productions to recast the project.
In an earlier interview with our sister channel, The Lallantop, Janhvi shared, “We had even shot for that film for about 30 to 35 days. The shoot was going very well, according to me. I don’t know why the film was shelved. I guess (it was because) we began shooting for that film long before Covid. And then Covid happened, and there was a one-and-a-half year delay. Then people felt that to restart the film, I don’t know.”
With Vikrant’s confirmation, ‘Dostana 2’ is set to return to production with a new cast.
