Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan took to social media to mark a historic T20 milestone and, in his signature cheeky style, took a subtle dig at Pakistan. He highlighted how India has consistently had the upper hand against their arch-rivals in T20 cricket, tracing the streak back to 2007.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Pathan celebrated India’s historic triumph in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup, where the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in the final. He wrote, “What a day it was back in 2007. Where our World Cup dream was fulfilled. Beating Pakistan regularly started there in T20 cricket.”

Pathan has also been critical of Pakistan’s players and their recent on-field antics during the Asia Cup, which took place amid heightened political tensions between the two nations. Some of these actions included Sahibzada Farhan’s gun celebration after scoring a fifty and Haris Rauf’s fighter-jet gesture. India, in contrast, maintained a composed approach, often avoiding customary handshakes or public displays of emotion during the clashes. Ryan ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach heaped praise on the players for not stooping to their level as well ahead of their game agianst Bangladesh.

In the ongoing Asia Cup, India and Pakistan faced off twice, with both games resulting in comprehensive victories for the Men in Blue. Since 2007, India has maintained an impressive T20 record against Pakistan, winning the majority of encounters and establishing a psychological edge. Pathan’s post served as a humorous nod to this dominance, celebrating India’s cricketing prowess over the years.

The former pacer’s cheeky message came amid celebrations across India, where fans and cricket enthusiasts continue to praise the team’s emerging talent and consistent performance on the global stage. Known for his witty social media presence, Pathan ensured his tribute was both lighthearted and reflective of India’s cricketing achievements.

While the India-Pakistan rivalry remains intense, Pathan’s post reminded fans of India’s long-standing success in T20 cricket, commemorating both historic victories and recent feats. It reinforced the Men in Blue’s reputation for thriving under pressure and maintaining dominance over one of their fiercest rivals.
