Amrita Rao is one of the most famous actresses of Bollywood. She rose to superstardom with her film, Vivah, in 2006. Before it, she was seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Main Hoon Na and cemented her footing in Hindi cinema. Recently, Amrita appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast and revealed how she received marriage proposals after the immense success of her film,Vivah, starring Shahid Kapoor.
Amrita Rao received marriage proposals after Vivah
During an interaction with Ranveer Allahbadia, Amrita revealed that things changed after the success of Vivah. She revealed that she would get NRI proposals with family photos. She stated that people would stand next to their car and dog, asking her to marry. She was quoted as saying:
“After Vivah, I used to get NRI proposals with family photos, people standing next to their car and dog, saying ‘mujhse shaadi karlo’ (please marry me). And not just one or two… I got many! I used to laugh and wonder, ‘Kya log hain yeh!’ (What kind of people are they?)”
Not only this, Amrita Rao revealed that she received a letter which was written in blood. She called it the scariest thing. She added that the man would stand at the telephone booth outside her house and her parents would pick up the phone. She shared:
“Some even wrote letters. Once, I received a letter written in blood, and that was very scary. There was this guy who would stand at the telephone booth outside my house, and my mom or dad would have to pick up the phone. It got a little much.”

Amrita Rao revealed that despite giving the biggest hit of her career, she was facing an internal battle. Amrita revealed that she was feeling artistically stuck in the roles that were being offered to her. She stated that this phase compelled her to leave the industry. She stated that she would get big offers with kissing scenes. She claimed that people would say a lot of things to demotivate her, and that made her stop attending parties and award shows. She said:
“I met my husband (RJ Anmol) when I was at a very critical point in my life. Even with all the superhit films and love from the audience, I felt stuck. The kind of films I wanted to do weren’t coming to me. The offers were big but came with conditions like, ‘There’s a kissing scene,’ and I would think, ‘Why do I only get offers with a glitch?’ People would say all kinds of things to demotivate me. I didn’t want to attend parties, award shows or be seen. I just wanted to do my work and come home. I was in a lonely space.”
Amrita Rao revealed that it was during this difficult phase that she fell for her RJ Anmol. They met for an interview for his radio show, and it was the start of their beautiful love story. Anmol’s presence in Amrita’s life helped her navigate the emotional and professional storm. After dating each other for seven years, they secretly tied the knot in a private ceremony, and announced the same a year later. In 2020, the couple welcomed their first child.
