Kristen Stewart touched down at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on Friday in a soft pink Chanel ensemble with matching pink highlights in her hair. She arrived for “The Chronology of Water” photo call at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, wearing a look from the fashion house’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week in March.

Stewart is at Cannes as a director for the first time. For the occasion, the actress and Chanel ambassador wore Look 6 from the designer’s fall 2025 collection, which was a light pink tweed suit that included a pink short-sleeved jacket and shorts overlaid with a sheer ankle-length skirt.

While the runway look featured the jacket buttoned all the way up, Stewart kept all the buttons, except the top one, open, exposing her midsection. She wore a barely-there, sleeveless tulle vest on top of the jacket that was made of the same material as the skirt.

Stewart, who has famously broken the event’s dress code before, going barefoot or in sneakers at the festival, paired the look with satin peep-toe sandals in a pale pink shade and a Chanel Bouton de Camelia Choker.

The rest of the fall 2025 collection featured similar looks, providing playful and more relaxed versions of the luxury brand’s staple designs. “There is a market for comfort dressing with an upscale twist, but catering to existing clients is not enough. Brands need fresh blood to survive and thrive,” WWD’s Joelle Diderich wrote about the Chanel show in March. “Chanel’s recent collections lack the spark of unexpected connections that comes with an outside eye.”

The fashion house named Matthieu Blazy as Chanel’s new artistic director of fashion activities in December. The 40-year-old designer is due to show his first collection in October.

Stewart has been a long-standing Chanel ambassador and has been working with the brand since 2013, becoming the face of various campaigns, including the Métiers d’Art collections, makeup campaigns, and the Gabrielle perfume.

“The Chronology of Water” premiered during the Un Certain Regard section of the film festival. The movie is a biographical romantic drama film directed by Stewart, marking her feature directorial debut. The movie is from a screenplay the filmmaker cowrote with Andy Mingo, based on the memoir of the same name by competitive swimmer Lidia Yuknavitch. The story follows a young woman who finds her voice through the written word and her salvation as a swimmer, ultimately becoming a triumphant teacher, mother and a singular modern writer.
