Filmmaker Farah Khan recently shared a poignant memory of her conversation with the late actor Rishi Kapoor following his cancer diagnosis. During a visit to Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s residence in Delhi, Khan reflected on her emotional response upon learning about Kapoor’s illness.
Farah Khan recalls emotional call with late Rishi Kapoor after his Cancer diagnosis: “Kuch nahi hai, main theek hojaaunga”
She recalled, “I remember when I got the news, I called Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) and started crying on the phone, and he was so positive, he kept saying, ‘arey chup beth yaar hota rehta hai, kuch nahi hai, main theek hojaaunga.’”
Riddhima, who is set to make her Bollywood debut alongside Kapil Sharma, also opened up about those challenging times. She shared, “I never left Samara for three years. The first time I ever left Samara was when Dad got sick. Before Covid, when he was diagnosed.”
Khan’s recollection highlights Kapoor’s unwavering optimism and his ability to comfort others even during his own challenging times. She also reminisced about their early collaborations, noting, “The last film that Chintu ji did as a hero, Hum Dono, was one of my first movies as a choreographer. He tried to bully me left and right. Then I had to give it back to him. And once you do that, he’s fine. Plus, he worked with my dad in Raffuchakkar.”
Rishi Kapoor, diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, sought treatment in New York for nearly a year. After returning to India in 2019, he continued working before his health declined again in early 2020. He passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67.
On the work front, Farah Khan recently choreographed the song ‘Gafoor’ for Aryan Khan’s debut series, Th Ba***ds Of Bollywood.
