Actor Akshay Kumar publicly criticised the misuse of artificial intelligence after a manipulated video featuring him in the role of Maharishi Valmiki gained traction online. On Tuesday, Kumar posted a note on social media, expressing his concern over the spread of the AI-generated video, which he said was even reported by some media outlets. The actor took the opportunity to clarify his position and called for greater responsibility from both the media and the public in handling digital content.

In his statement, Kumar emphasised the danger of AI-generated misinformation. He noted, “I have recently come across some AI-generated videos of a film trailer showing me in the role of Maharishi Valmiki. I want to clarify that all such videos are fake and created using AI. What’s worse, some news channels decide to pick these up as ‘news’ without even verifying if these are real or morphed.”

The actor also cautioned his supporters against making or sharing AI-manipulated videos. He stressed the rapid spread of such misleading content and addressed the media in particular, urging them to act with greater vigilance. “In today’s time, when misleading content is being produced at great speed through manipulative AI, I sincerely request media houses to verify and report only after authenticating the information,” the actor added.

Kumar’s comments highlight increasing public concern about the potential for artificial intelligence to generate and spread misinformation.

Kumar, meanwhile, is promoting his latest film ‘Jolly LLB 3’, which is currently running in theatres. The film has been performing well at the box office, with around Rs 60 crore nett in four days.
