Jake Paul and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’ press conference took a nasty turn on September 22, 2025 (PT). Paul didn’t waste any time and attacked Davis, calling him ‘Stupid as f**k’. Paul proclaimed the WBA lightweight champion when Davis appeared to fumble the date for the Netflix showdown in the opening stages of the lively kickoff proceedings. However, the remainder of the 30-minute press availability didn’t improve, as it was mostly focused on Davis’ smaller stature and history of arrests.
Jake Paul takes a dig at Tank’s height
Jake Paul took a dig at Gervonta Davis’ height, joking that his training for the match included a ‘lot of punching down’. This was because Paul himself is 6’1″, whereas he will be fighting against Davis, who is 5’5″. He further called Davis an 8-year-old, to which Davis interrupted and stated:
“I know one thing. If I [find] out anything, I’m going to beat your a** and I’m going to beat J’Leon Love’s a**. On my momma, I’m going to beat both of your a**es.”
Jake Paul attacks Gervonta Davis’ history of arrest
In the same press conference, Jake Paul further targeted Gervonta Davis’ long history of arrests. When Davis was asked what he would weigh for their 195-pound exhibition, Paul took another dig at him and commented, “With or without the ankle monitor on?” The comment left Davis unimpressed, and he called Paul ‘corny’. However, Paul continued and fueled the fire by adding:
“And the handcuffs too.”
Jake Paul calls Gervonta Davis a clown for the alleged domestic abuse allegations
While Gervonta Davis maintained a calm demeanour for the majority of the conference, Jake Paul’s series of verbal jabs eventually took their toll on his patience. However, even that didn’t stop Paul from attacking Davis. As a response to Paul, Tank decided to attack the former’s outfit and hairstyle in response. He stated that Paul’s outfit was ‘garbage’ and he looked like a ‘clown’ with the mohawk. Unfortunately, instead of shutting Paul down, it gave him another way of attacking Gervonta Davis as he stated:
“Gervonta, you’re the f***ing clown, buddy. You’re the f***ing clown, Gervonta. Any man who puts his hands on a woman is a clown.”
Gervonta Davis was accused of physically assaulting his former girlfriend
Jake Paul was referencing Gervonta Davis’ recent arrest for a misdemeanour battery-domestic violence charge. According to reports, Davis’ ex-girlfriend accused the star boxer of physically harming her by hitting her on the back of her head and slapping her in an alleged altercation on June 15, 2025. The charge was later dropped after the alleged victim refused to prosecute. However, it was not the first time Davis had been accused of domestic violence. The Tank was previously arrested on two other occasions for allegedly assaulting the mother of his children in 2020 and 2022, respectively. The charges were either discharged or dropped on both occasions.
