Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and director Neeraj Ghaywan attended the press conference of Homebound at a multiplex in Mumbai. The actors spoke about the Oscar honour and also the premiere of the film at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, as well as the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and moreover, legendary Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese has come on board as the film’s executive producer.

Neeraj Ghaywan admitted that Martin Scorsese’s association would help them in their road to the Oscars. Homebound is India’s official entry to the 97th Academy Awards.
Neeraj Ghaywan said, “It is going to help and we are privileged to have his support. He’s been so instrumental in giving us a copious number of notes. He sent across our producer, Mélita Toscan du Plantier (some inputs), and I changed the script accordingly. So, his contribution to the script has been quite a lot.”
Neeraj continued, “He even gave us feedback on the edit. He did all of this selflessly. That’s the reason he’s one of the biggest filmmakers in the world.”
Say no to spoilers
Homebound’s screenings for the media took place on September 19. Hence, many journalists, present at the event, had already seen the film. While asking a question, a journalist ended up speaking about the climax of the film. Neeraj Ghaywan requested him, “Please don’t give spoilers.” Ishaan Khatter commented, “At present, people in India haven’t seen the film.” However, he answered the question without giving away the happenings of the sequence.
Towards the end of the event, Neeraj Ghaywan said, “Many of you have seen the film. A lot of people present here are from the media. At one point, even I was in the media. Hence, I understand the integrity and freedom of the press. But I request all of you to please write about us. We’ll be thankful if you all promote us. But I have rarely seen such a performance come out of an actor in the last many years or a decade, particularly in the climax. And when you give out the spoiler, the viewers won’t be able to have the same experience that they had. You’ll rob them of that experience. So, I would request not to talk about it. You can definitely talk about their performance, but not the contents of the scene.”
Homebound releases in cinemas on September 26.
