A man explained why he left Mumbai within 100 days and returned to Delhi in a now-viral LinkedIn post.

In his post, Deshav said he is often asked, “Why did you come back to Delhi from Mumbai?” He noted that the question has followed him for weeks, with people jokingly suggesting, “Didn’t you like Mumbai? Couldn’t make friends? Missing your imaginary girlfriend in Delhi?”

Explaining his choice, he wrote, “After living in Mumbai for around 100 days, I did decide to move back to Delhi. And the truth isit wasn’t about friends, language, or even the city.”

He said he had been fascinated by the idea of moving to a new city for his career because it felt like stepping out of his comfort zone. “But looking back, that logic wasn’t the best,” he admitted.

Deshav added, “People often romanticise the idea of stepping out of your comfort zone. We’re told that growth only comes when you do that. And yes, sometimes it’s true. But I realised that growth is not about being uncomfortable all the time. For me, at this stage of my career, my comfort zone is exactly what helps me grow better.”

For him, Delhi provided the sense of stability he needed. “It’s not that Mumbai isn’t amazing, it truly is. But my journey needed a base where I could focus, build, and scale without battling every little thing outside of work. So, I came back and I’m glad I did.”

Recalling his experience, he concluded, “Comfort zone isn’t always the enemy. Sometimes, it’s the soil you need to grow stronger roots before you branch out again. I’m sharing this because it might help someone else make a wiser decision.”

LinkedIn users flooded the comments section of the post. “So true and also a place where you can just focus on yourself and be at peace with yourself,” said a user.

Another user added, “Completely agree with you. One must know what works best for them irrespective of their comfort zone. Glad you made the right decision for yourself.” One of the users said, “Welcome back brother.”

Sometimes, stepping out of one’s comfort zone is not what the journey requires.
