But it seems like all speculation around her work doesn’t bother the actress, as she announced her collaboration with her first-ever co-star, Shah Rukh Khan, for King.

Deepika Padukone’s exit from two big production projects has raised several questions around her work ethic after a list of her alleged demands went viral with her Spirit exit. Although there is no confirmation about the same, it hampered her image. Amid all this, Deepika Padukone took to her Instagram handle a while before and shared a picture holding hands with SRK to confirm her role in King. In the caption, she described how King Khan, her first-ever co-star in Om Shaanti Om, taught her some significant lessons, before subtly hinting at her next, as she penned:
“The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago, while filming Om Shaanti Om, was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success. I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I have made. And that’s probably why we’re back, making our 6th movie together?”
Deepika Padukone has worked with Shah Rukh Khan in multiple films since her debut, like Happy New Year, Pathaan, Jawan, Chennai Express, and more. The majority of their projects have turned out to be a massive box office success making the duo one of the most successful on-screen pairs in today’s time. Interestingly, Deepika’s husband, Ranveer Singh couldn’t keep calm on the big announcement and pointed at their special bond while writing:

Deepika Padukone will reunite with her Pathaan director, Siddharth Anand, and Shah Rukh Khan for King, which has increased the expectations of fans. Earlier, a Pinkvilla report confirmed that the actress was officially a part of King and was set to begin shooting for the project in May 2025. Although she has mentioned “Day 1” in her post’s hashtag, it is difficult to determine if it is an old mention or a recent happening. The outlet further mentioned that Deepika was initially unavailable for the film, as she took off from work to focus on her newborn and getting back in shape. However, a delay in King’s schedule made it aligned with her timeline.

King refers to an upcoming action thriller starring Shah Rukh Khan. It will be his first film wherein he will share the screen space with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The project was earlier headed by Sujoy Ghost, but was taken over by Siddharth Anand following his exit.
