On this Thursday’s episode of The Run-Through, Chioma sits down with Raye to talk about how her October cover for British Vogue came together in Paris. While Raye has had an incredible year—performing at the Grammys, the Oscars, and on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury—she says that being on the cover of British Vogue is a lifetime highlight. “Like, that was a real, heart-stop, wow moment for me,” Raye says. “I don’t think I’m ever gonna forget that feeling.”
At the moment, Raye is busy getting ready to hit the road with This Tour May Contain New Music, while her new single, “Where Is My Husband?,” has just been released and her new album is available for pre-order. The only catch? She hasn’t actually finished the album yet. “The album is not done,” Raye admits. “But I’ve announced it. You know what? Sometimes you need to put a deadline. So, that’s happening.”
With that deadline now fast approaching, Raye gets candid with Chioma about how her bobbed hair helped her to find confidence as an artist and wanting to take more risks with fashion in the next chapter of her music career. “I think I’m finally in the place where I’m ready to, like, push things a little bit in the fashion sense, whereas before it’s very much been comfort,” Raye says. “ I think I’m now in a place where I’m like, ‘Let’s go!’”
